During the restoration, I discovered the original key tucked away inside one of the bureau’s drawers, together with a handwritten tag simply reading “Jane’s Desk.”
While I can’t verify who Jane was, I chose to preserve both the tag and the key as a small reminder of the bureau’s journey through time. They will be included with the piece, allowing its next owner to become part of its continuing story.
